Hello All! This message is for current and new Medicare Supplement / Medigap clients. Due to changes in Medicare from a couple years ago, which recently have taken effect, we will not be able to assist with comparing prescription drug plans this year. Remember, this is a separate plan from your medical / Medicare Supplement.
New Medicare rules have gone into effect and shaken up the prescription plan market, drastically limiting our ability to serve you. In addition, Medicare and the insurers aren’t paying us anymore for offering prescription plans. These factors have contributed to us not being able to service prescription drug plans. Keep in mind, this only applies to prescription drug plans, not medical and other plans such as; Medicare Supplements / Medigap, Medicare Advantage – Part C, dental & vision, or life insurance plans. We will still continue to be able to assist you with all of these needs.
With all of this said, we’ve produced some guidance for you to shop for a drug plan, which you will find below. Please read carefully;
  • You can learn about your drug plan options online or over the phone.
  • You can use Medicare’s plan finder tool online to view, compare, and enroll in a plan online. You can also call 1-800-Medicare (633-4227) to compare all plans with them over the phone. Just have your drug list ready either way.  Note: You will only want to review prescription drug plans with them, not Medicare Advantage. Enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan will disrupt the Medicare Supplement coverage you already have.
  • We have made a helpful article for using Medicare’s plan finder tool online. It includes step by step instructions and video. Click here to visit the page.
  • You can also contact individual insurers directly. Below is a list of insurers with their phone numbers and some notes on their plans.

Remember: You will want to only discuss prescription plans with them. It’s possible that they may attempt to steer you towards a Medicare Advantage plan for your medical coverage. This would disrupt the medical coverage you have now through your Medicare Supplement. If you want to explore Medicare Advantage, you can do that through us.

Insurance Carrier Phone Number Notes
Wellcare 1-844-480-0700 2 plans available for $0 monthly
Humana 1-877-529-9871 3 plans available starting at $22.90 / mo.
Cigna / Healthspring 1-877-665-1842 2 plans available ranging from $70 to $111.40 /mo
United Healthcare 1-888-867-5564 2 plans from $89.20 to $114.80 / mo
Blue Cross BS of TX 1-877-213-1817 2 plans available from $104 / mo to $167
Aetna / Silver Script 1-833-526-2445 1 plan available for $94.80 / mo

*** The monthly premium is only one factor. Depending on your drug list, a higher premium plan may still cost less based on the cost of your drugs.

This is all very regretful to us. We look forward to assisting you with your Medicare needs in all other areas. If you have any questions, please email Ben Rodriguez at [email protected] or text 512-537-7847.
